[Farmall] F-14 fuel pump rod

Been a while since we had this discussion; I've forgotten a few details. 
Seems like the rod was supposed to be exactly eight inches long.  Seven or 
eight, no fractions anyway.  Cold rolled steel or drill rod should be fine; 
if you want it to last forever, you might consider hardening the ends by 
heat-treatment.  3/8" rod.

The check valves must be functioning properly.  They are generally included 
in a rebuild kit.  There are at least two different styles.  One of the 
styles is a large, replaceable metal 'button'.  The other consists of some 
small hexagonal bakelite pieces and some springs.  As I recall, there are at 
least two different sizes of bakelite 'flappers'.

Most F-12/14 fuel pumps have a drain or vent in the bottom of the unit below 
the diaphragm.  This lets any leakage from the diaphragm run out.  If it is 
plugged, the leaking fuel goes into the crankcase.
