[AJD] John Deere 650

Lyman:

I just looked at the pictures of the 1986 FWA JD 650 & loader on the
auctioneer's web site. It looks really good and clean. It is advertised as
"low hours" and it looks it. Sure would like to see some pictures of the
associated JD implements.

I have been told it isn't all that unusual to find this series of tractors
with low hours since they were typically used by home/hobby farm owners, not
farmers. My 1981 JD 750 had 195 hours on it when I bought it in 1998.

I would encourage you to not be too concerned about the smallness of this
tractor. Get to the auction early and run it around a bit. I suspect you
will find that it is much more nimble than your G.

Mike

The sale is a week from now, will let you know how I make out.
I had hoped to get it for about 5 grand, but with the loader it may be
worth more. I kind of wanted to get the tiller, plow and cultivator too,
figured I
Could go as high as 7 for the equipment too.
Anyway I won't need the rest if I don't get the tractor.
Are you satisfied with the performance?
I'm a little worried that it'll turn out to be too small for me as I'm
Used to a G. But I'll still have the G
Thanks for the info!

Lyman,

I was curious to hear if you ever got your hands on that 650.

As I mentioned before I'd been holding out for a 750 without much luck.
Today as I was driving by, a guy down the road was putting a 650 out for
sale in his front yard with a 4' bush hog and a 4' box blade. I had to
give
$6000 for all of it, but I finally have something close to what I've
been\ctor
wanting. The tractor and equipment are all in exceptional condition.
It's
amazing how much these things bring, but if I didn't jump at this one it
would have been gone by supper time to someone else. They already had
several stop-by's in the 30 minutes it took me get back with a
down-payment.

The funny thing was, I had given up on the idea of a 750 or 650 and
yesterday had settled on an older Kubota L210 with 4 more pieces of
equipment (finish mower, disk, 1-bottom plow and tiller)with it for only
$200 more. But the tractor was hard starting and getting to look rough
(been outside for the past 5 or 6 years) and all the equipment would
have
needed at least some work. And it just wasn't a John Deere.

Now I need to get rid of the Farmall Super A and Ford 2000 that have
both
gotten to the point that I had to fix them every time I wanted to use
them
and then find me a decent finish mower for the 650.

Anybody on this list familiar with the 650 garden tractor?
Have located one with a small loader on it. 1986 model with low hours
and clean. Any ideas how much it's worth?
Any help would be appreciated.
