[AJD] Adjusting Tappets

I asked this question before and no-one answered. I can understand that
but I was serious, so I will ask it again. How in the world do you
adjust the tappets on an unstyled D? I don't have large hands, but I
haven't found a way yet to get them in the tappet case with it on the
tractor. Is it merely a matter of turning the flywheel until a tappet
is loose and then adjusting them down snug and then loosening the
adjusting stud a half turn to get .030? Then repeating the process for
each one?

I was so locked in by my past experiences that only tonight when I
reread the I & T manual did I really realize what it said. Is this the
way it is supposed to be done?

I would appreciate some advice here. The last time I adjusted tappets
was by pulling the valve cover off and using a feeler guage to make the
adjustment while the engine was running.

Thanks for your collective wisdom.
