[AJD] Rattle Can Paint

They use gold flake in other colors of paint also. That is one of the
reasons why good red paint is so expensive.

Would it be cheaper to get a gallon of Classic Green and spray it with a
spray gun. If you don't add hardener, you can store it for a while,
even with reducer in it. I prefer to paint with a gun instead of a
spray can. I understand the convenience of a spray can, but the cost
and quality are better when you spray paint with a gun.

To add to Greg's note, Classic green color came into use with the New
Generation tractors. I believe that Deere changed the shades of green
twice before the New Gen tractors. I you want the correct shade of
green for your vintage of tractor, you can get it from Dupont. The code
is 262. Alt #1 is up to the late 20's or early 30's. Alt #2 is picks up
from Alt #1 up to 1960 (the end of the two-cylinders). Alt #3 is the
same as Classic Green. You need the be sure that you specify the Alt #
you want. Some jobbers will even try to tell you there is no
difference. I can tell you that is not so. I have had all three
alternates mixed up and made a comparison card. There is definite
difference.

Greg, Ron, Terry, Dana, Tom, Marc & Lou -

Thanks very much for sharing your info on the rattle can paint. My
dealer isn't a
pure Deere dealership... they handle several different colored
tractors... and don't
stock the Deere rattle cans. I'll see if they can order some up for me.
I'm just
working bits & pieces right now. Greg... I thought the gold flecks were
in the yellow,
not the green.
