In November of 1924 Holt Tractor was developing tracts on equipment. As
early as 1919 tracks were being installed on steam engines. Hole and Best
were the first to develop track machines. They were competitors. Most
development occurred in Calif. Holt became Caterpillar in later times. There
is a good Cat site. www.caterpillar.com
