[AT] Q. for JD "experts"--or anyone.

John Grant has given a second to Walt's comment so I guess I am just giving
a third -

Anyway my first antique tractor restoration was a John Deere B. The Head
"looked good" to me but a friend, who had had a lot of experience on
resurrecting old John Deere's, convinced me I ought a have it cleaned and
magnafluxed before re-installing it back on the tractor. He was right ...
the flux showed four cracks. Had I put this Head back on I am sure I would
have had a problem similar, or worse, to that John is having out in Oregon.

I agree Walt. I had an engine that we tore down 3 times before we found the
crack. Everything looked great before we magnafluxed it and then the crack
jumped right out for us to see. Looks can be deceiving!. Check every
possibility first before putting back together. Saves a LOT of time and
frustration. Just My Thoughts, John Grant
