After discovering that the crank was bad in my
'good' Lindman yesterday, I set out to remove the
crank from my 'parts' Lindeman today.

Now that part machine when I got it consisted of a
transmission, block, crank, pistons, fanshaft, front
cast frame, steering clutch housings, govenor and
fanshaft. the rest was gone.

When I first brough the parts machine home, I
picked it up with my crane and stood it on end and you
should have seen the water run out, it must have had
every case full of water. I was very suprisded today
to see that all the gears on the transmission were in
very good shape, the govenor, pistons, rod journals
and main bearings, camshaft, all in top notch shape.
I never would have expected it. It makes me wonder
why it get parted out in the first place. Obviously
the engine had little time on it, the rollers were
decent in the track frames, transmission looked good,
Lot of wear on the drawbar. I wish I better knew
it's story.

I have it stripped down to just the transmission
case with the gears still in the transmission. I
should get that torn apart next week. As much as I
hate to part out a tractor, it sure is nice to get to
tear a junker down first before I get into the 'good'
one.

Originally I had planned on just getting my good
Lindeman running first, then take it down and paint
it, now that the crank is coming out, it's coming
all the way apart and getting a ground up.. Good
think the wife won't be home until next year...

                       Chris
