I agree John.  I think a permanent mount is in the future.  I have another 
D-14 that might become the dedicated back hoe tractor.
If you could see a picture of the unit you would see that modifying the top 
link is not an easy fix.  Changing the bottom link location is much easier 
and will have the same effect.  The top link on this unit is solid mount to 
the tractor top link once it is attached.  The outriggers take the load of 
the backhoe while it is digging and the lower 3pt links just stabilize the 
whole thing.

The problem will come in if I start to ripping and snatching on roots etc. 
or trying to lift the rear of the tractor with the hoe and I would be 
inclined to do both if it suited my purpose while digging.
