[Steam-engine] Timing/adjusting the slide "D" valve

  Howdy all from warm Montana;
  Well the final painting is almost done on the Wachs vertical and assembly 
will start soon, but we have no guidelines on how to time the slide valve. 
The eccentric is on the crankshaft and it is keyed so that's a no brainer. 
Any help from there on up would greatly be appreciated!!
