About 30 miles east of you, Rob, we got about 16-18" overnight. This is
too much for my Ford 860 to handle, as I have 2 miles of private lane
and half a dozen driveways to take care of. I used the F350 dump with 8'
Western blade with no problems. This morning, I used the 860 with its
canvas weather cab and did the driveways. Yesterday, before the storm
began, I tried to start the Farmall 560 diesel that was attached to the
PTO generator. I found out that the fuel had gelled in the trap and in
both fuel filters. It was too cold (8 F degrees) at that point to mess
with, so I pulled it out of the way with the 860 and went to the shed to
get another tractor in case of a power outage. Well, the Farmall 340 is
parked in front of the Super M, so I tried to start it, but the
relatively new 6 volt battery just didn't have enough juice to turn it
over more than once. I left it on the charger and moved on to the Super
M. Well that tractor's battery is completely dead (which I pretty much
knew but had hoped it wasn't), so that one is sitting with a charger on
it too. If worst comes to worst, I will use the 860, but then I have to
rig up some piping to divert the underneath exhaust fumes away from the
house.
As you can imagine, my wife was pretty much disgusted that we have four
tractors capable of running the generator, and only one works. I guess I
will have some "projects" ahead of me when the weather warms up...

They were looking for 1000 folks to shovel the stadium clear for this
evening's game. I wonder how many they got.
