Larry and Ralph,
Y'all aren't the only ones left with dial-up as your only option. I'm far
enough
away from the switching office that DSL isn't an option and we don't have
cable TV out here either. We do have Dish Network, but their internet access
is prohibitively expensive.
At the present time, transferring VHS (or Beta) to DVD is possible, but it will
take a lot more equipment than just a PC with a DVD burner and a TV Video
card to do the job. I noticed a shop in Temple that has a sign out front
advertising
the transfer, but haven't checked on the prices yet.
