The SEL list had 62 messages since yesterday - Definitely not quiet over
there. As for this list and my lack of posting, I have been real busy this
week. Had a small project for a customer Thursday and Friday. Also, ---

and of more interest to this list, I sawed two large oak logs (30"+ in
diameter) at the local saw mill Wednesday. The sawmill is run by a fellow
that raises hay also and uses Olivers and we have known each other for 15
years or more. The sawmill however is run by a 1950s vintage Farmall
diesel power unit - Traditional Farmall grill, hood, etc. I think it is
even bigger than the Farmall MD or Super MD engine. Maybe something along
the lines that the larger TD-XX crawlers used.

Anyways, we buried the blade a couple times doing the first trimming on one
log the Farmall opened up the governor good and strong but never really
snorted and clearly could handle anything the blade and the oak could give
if Jake just feathered off the carriage speed a bit. Also he has a
hydraulic carriage and log turner. So we made pretty short work of it.
Very old saw mill but very nice. Jake is very reasonable with his prices
too. Two big 14' oak logs cut into just 1" boards for $60. That's a LOT
of oak boards for $60.

My adult son Parker happened to be off work that day(actually working
nights) and since I would need an extra hand off-loading the boards to the
trailer as Jake cut, Parker helped. I don't get to do stuff like this too
much with him any more, so it was nice to work at the mill with him in the
morning and then eat lunch at our favorite spot.

But today, just hanging out with Denise by the wood stove and not paying
much attention to my computer. David Bruce and I are neighbors and he
already mentioned the weather. The snow was nice, 2-3 inches but the
freezing drizzle is starting and I not real happy with that.
