[AT] Meals

Down South the three meals were breakfast, dinner, and supper. On my
Grandad's farm breakfast was what you'd expect - grits, eggs, bacon or
fatback and toast and jelly. Then, dinner was served punctually at noon, and
was the biggest meal of the day. Granny had a big (really big) bell in the
yard outside the kitchen with a long handle and rope. You could hear that
bell 20 acres away over the growl of a plowing tractor. Wash up at the
wellhouse before coming inside, hang your cap on the pegs by the door and
feast on a six or seven course meal. Supper was the lightest meal of the
day. It was re-warmed dinner, and wasn't served til the work was done.
Before bed maybe a bowl of vanilla ice cream with homegrown strawberries.
