Mike,

The Waterloo Boy was the product of a stationary gas engine company in
Iowa called The Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company. WGE Co was bought in
1918 by John Deere when they realized they'd better get into the gas
tractor business, and the less than stellar performance of the "All
Wheel Drive", the first "real" John Deere tractor.

Note that my $80,000 bid on the AWD didn't hold up very long when it was
up on Ebay before Ma Deere ended up with it :( (Good thing since I
don't have the proverbial pot or window!)

That's your history lesson for today. Be prepared for a pop quiz when
you least expect it!

Terry
