[AT] OT: Carbruators

I owned a '62 Impala SS ragtop with the factory 409/409 combo &
Borg-Warner 4-speed that was my passion for about 15 years.  Nothing I
have ever owned before or since matched the sound of that engine when
you would get on it and have all 8 barrels of those AFB's open.  Good
thing, too, because it probably helped drown out the sound of gas
rushing out of the tank.....   I envied the mpg that motor homes can
get.  Yep, sold it at a weak moment.

You're right Ralph.....an AFB is a Carter carburetor.  I remember they
were
used on the  1961 Chevrolet Super Sport  409 engine.  The single 4 bbl.
engine was rated at 360 hp. but in 1962 they came out with the dual
Carter
AFB's that brought about the 409 with 409 hp.  Strong!
