[AT] D2 Stuck Steering Clutches

Rich, I don't remember all of the details of when I redid the steering 
clutches on the RD4 and D4, but as I remember it really wasn't that big a 
deal. From 25-30 year old conversations with the Cat mechanic who taught me 
how to work on these, the D2's are the same in construction and should not 
be any more dificult just smaller. Please take that with a grain of salt as 
it is that long ago....
    As far as having a Cat mechanic reference for you in the Sacramento 
area, sorry no help. But the D2 of that vintage is a very common machine and 
I would be shocked if there is not an independent nearby. Why don't you call 
the salvage yard in Suisun Bay and I'll bet they could give you a good 
reference....
