Ensign had a "balance tube from the manifold to the regulator that had to  be 
there to run.  Ensign had the best system of its day for immediate  throttle 
response and good idle.  I loved their systems on the tractors we  had.  I 
converted about 15 tractors when Propane was cheap, but if we could  find a 
factory ensign system, that was the way to go....  
 
Could the balance tube be gone.  It ran from the outside cover of the  
regulator/convertor to the manifold.  Usually a 1/4 or 3/16 dia copper  tube...
