[AJD] Steering Gear Oil Leak

Mike,

I reassembled the shims and cover as fast as I could before the sealer
had a chance to dry.  My goal was to get as thin a "gasket" as I could
between them because the front to back movement tolerance of the worm
gear is important and dried sealer might act like an additional shim and
add several thousandths too much additional play which I didn't want.  I
figured the wet sealer would squeeze out more completely when I
tightened down the front cover and it did.

Bill -

Do you reassemble while the thin coat of gasket sealer is still 
wet/tacky or do you let the individual coated shims set-up/dry 
before assembly?
