[AJD] Putting the D together

I had no difficulty getting 18 for the D.  I understand how how lead 
washers seal the threads and holes around the studs because the lead is 
so soft.  How do the copper washers work? I presume that they are not 
malleable enough to fill thread and stud voids like the lead does.
