OK ENOUGH ALREADY
Why don't you guys get back to what this list is for - answering
Questions??????????
Marc asked and your too busy with your egos
So here goes my response:
In my 60 this happened and I found the shift lever was bent between the
top ball and the bottom ball and both balls were worn. Also found it had
been previously welded. I straitened and welded balls and ground down to
size.
The rest of the problem was the detent spring for 3rd was broken so gear
was not held in place all the time.
(My symptoms were that only sometimes it kicked out gear under load)
So if you are lucky and the tractor has not been run too long (gear not
fully engaged) this may fix the problem??
It fixed my 60.
IF THE EXPERTS ARE DONE CRYING MAYBE THEY CAN ADD SOMETHING USEFUL !!!!

Hi list
my tractor budy has a late model JD b. It slips out of gear
when pulling a load in third gear. I told him that the only way I
knew was to find another third gear and sliding gear shaft.
If i remember this was an ocassional problem withe these
tractor..Does any body have any answers, out side of putting
a block of wood in the slot to keep the tractor in 3rd gear.
