barrel carburetor?

Model "60" and "70" LP-Gas tractors---as orginally delivered, they were equipped with single-barrel carburetors until 6040401, when the change was was made to duplex carburetion---previous LP-Gas tractors were changed to duplex in a mandatory changeover program.

2.) What was the first numbered series JD tractor produced and what model
year?

  The Model "62", in 1937.

3. What was the first JD tractor that had a conventional three point hitch,
factory installed and what model year?

  Model "40" T and "40" S, 1952

4.) Which model tractors had a "Live" hydraulic Power option?

The first JD tractors with "live " hydraulics were the "H" and the "LI" Tractors, followed by the "M" Series Tractors, the Model "R", and the styled "AR" and "AO" Tractors. All numbered series tractors were equipped with live hydraulics

5.) Which models of JD tractors had letter series and successor numbered
series produced in the same model year?

Depending on how you determine model years, in 1952, the "A" and the "60", and the "B" and the "50"( kind of "iffy" in this case, since there were a handful of Model "50" Tractors built before the 1953 model year actually began), and in 1953, the "G" and the "70" .

6.) Which models of tractors had only one manufactured?

We're not counting expermentals here, are we? There was only one of the "420" Special (V) tractor built in the 1958 model year. There are a couple of New Generation Hi-Crops of which only one example was built, but I'm too lazy at this hour to go look them up. There may be others, but my brain cells can't think of them off the top of my head.

7.) Which model tractor was announced for one model year but didn't come out
until the next model year due to a steel strike?

Generally regarded as the Model "50", though a few were built before the strike.

8.) What tractor models had the first convertible front pedestals? And what
model year?

"AN", "AW", "BN", "BW" and "GN, "GW" all in the latter half of the 1947 model year.

9.) Were JD tractors ever produced that that were know as "W" versions but
were not designated as such?

  1952 Model "50" and "60" Tractors.
