I know Kent personally, and will see if I can get ahold of him off-line.  Knowing the history of what Kent has been through over the years, it's possible that something has happened, although I acknowledge that something doesn't add up.  Please with hold your judgement until we know more.

I checked out the website also and I came to the same conclusion you did. 
Maybe I'm wrong but with the prevalence of internet scams I am rather
cynical also.
