Artemis Class Attack Cargo Ship: Laid down, 13 October 1944, as a  Maritime 
Commission type (S4-SE2-BE1) hull, under a Maritime Commission  contract, at 
Welsh-Kaiser Co. Providence RI; Launched, 21 December 1944;  Commissioned USS 
Ostara (AKA-33), 31 January 1945; Decommissioned, 1 March 1946  at Norfolk VA.; 
Struck from the Naval Register, 17 April 1946; Returned to the  Maritime 
Commission for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet; Final  Disposition, 
fate unknown.
