[AT] Union Labor

Well, the German auto and armaments industry (among others) used slave labor
from concentration camps during 1939-1944. In Indonesia and India and
Pakistan, especially, "inferior" castes or peoples are frequently employed
in factories making goods for export at slave or near-slave level
conditions. Thankfully, there is a growing movement worldwide trying to
ameliorae the worst among these situations by setting minimum standards that
overseas retailers have to observe. Just because something is "priced
right" is not sufficient reason to purchase it, especially if it's something
one doesn't really need or has been told to want by an advertising industry
cynically appealing to the very worst instincts of middle and lower middle
class Americans. That's ONE reason I don't shop at Wal Mart. And never
will.
