Dean,

Was this seller from PA? I had a similar experience.

Here is a new quirk by unsavory eBay sellers I have just experienced. Paid
for the $4 item plus $4 shipping. Waited two weeks, hadn't received the
item. Sent several eBay emails to seller asking when and how it was shipped.
No response. Finally filed an eBay "dispute" . Got an immediate answer from
the seller: "You didn't buy insurance". So I asked again. When and how was
it shipped? After several tries I finally got a partial answer. "USPS" I
asked again: When was it shipped and what service within the USPS? Finally
got an answer "Shipped Last Week". That would have been after I filed the
eBay "dispute". A totally uncooperative seller.

Well, to make a long story short, I finally received the item 3 weeks later.
It had been shipped after I filed the eBay "Dispute" via USPS "Media Mail"
packaged inside a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope ($3.85 if used)
inside another stock envelope so the seller could attach $1.40 postage. That
is pure BS to me.

So another seller ended up on my "Do not buy from" list. Actually don't have
many on that list. Haven't had a lot of problems with eBay sellers.

I tend to agree about the lack of integrity in some sellers shipping
policies. I recently made a purchase that quoted a pretty reasonable price
for priority mail.... it arrived 1st class postage and about 3 $$ less cost
than indicated. I called the seller on it and he coughed up the over
payment. Recently someone on the list mentioned we were talking too much
ebay and not enough tractors.... I agree. However, we do make up a pretty
sizable piece of the ebay puzzle and we should collectively hold the sellers
feetsies to the fire. In the long run it's good for the hobby...

My .02 worth

Merry Christmas! Bobby

Louis:

I think you are confusing auction prices with shipping costs. I don't have
any problem at all with someone selling something at a high price due to
bidders bidding a high price. The bidders have a choice whether to bid or
not. But I do have problems with sellers trying to make a profit on shipping
costs. Just my little quirk. YMMV.

Well, like I said, the guy knows what it's worth, like that fellow with the
mower knife block. Ebay brings out the very best in some and a darker side
in others.
