[AJD] 1939 John Deere AW

That did happen on occasion, to be sure, but at some point, you have to go with what the records say----and I've checked the numbers in the Production Log versus the Serial Number Registers on several different occasions, and the differences if any, are miniscule. Since the records were kept by human beings, no doubt some mistakes were made. Tractors sometimes got changed at the Branch House level, and at the dealer level, as well, since front end assemblies could be ordered as Whole Goods. In some cases, those changes were reported to the factory, and the changes were recorded---I've seen some of those instances. In others, they were not, no doubt. There are cases where tractors are listed as being shipped without front end equipment, for whatever reason.
As I recall, the original question concerned the rarity of a 1939 "AW". Whether they made 30, as is recorded, or a few more were changed afterward, really isn't an issue, is it? A 1939 "AW" is still a rare tractor.

providing no A's that were built and in the yard were not change before they
left the factory and not recorded..........happened a lot more than some
people think!
