Vaughn, it also does a lousy job of sealing against oil leaks. I  prefer 
using new gasket material and nothing on it that's what the gaskets are  made to 
do.
However there are times when a good sealer can be used its all just depends  
on what you are trying to seal. Mostly on an engine just use the plain gasket  
for best results.
