George
All our redbuds were finished by 1 April. I can remember because I have a 5-6" redbud just outside the shop door and I walked through the fallen
red blooms all day on the 2nd as I cooked barbecue in the back yard. We had fresh asparagus this weekend from my wife's patch with my daughter and her family. Redbuds are native in the woods here and I see many out the front door. We also have dogwoods and they bloom almost concurrently. Enjoy your "green" asparagus, but beware of Roger's warning. My secret asparagus formula for years has been sheep manure and using peanut hulls as mulch. We buy peanut hulls in a 500 # bale done in a cotton bale press from the processers.

Our redbuds look like they will be in bloom in a day or two... the buds are
pink. I'm wondering how soon after they are in bloom can we expect to be
cutting asparagus? I'm sure there is a time connection but I forget what it
is. If I had a guideline I could eliminate a few wild goose chases to
check. I'm sure H.L. knows. ;-)
