Joe:
Ok, we are now making progress. You have a JD Model 4B or 4C or 4D plow. We
might be in luck as I own a 4C plow my self which may come into use for
reference but I think it has different bottoms than yours. I think I can
help you define which one of the three model plows yours is but lets first
focus on the bottoms.
0454S isn't listed in the Plow Bottoms Parts Catalog but 1450S is and they
are Syracuse Bottoms. If 1450S happens to be the right number then these
are three piece bottoms (added shin)???? and your plow is a 2 x 16". If I
have identified the bottom correctly then there were three different
landslides used (Short, Medium & Long) but they also include the numbers
1450 in their part number which should show up on the back side of the
landslides.
The JD Parts catalog for Bottoms isn't very good for the Syracuse bottoms.
There is a Repair Catalog for Syracuse plows that may be of more assistance
here but I don't have that particular book.

Dean (and anyone else who cares),
I found the following numbers cast into the plow beams. John Deere is
spelled out in capitol letters, then on one beam is 623, the other is 583.
On the
moldboard the numbers 0454S with a big * are stamped into it. Does this
help
at all?
Enjoy, Joe
