Does anyone have experience rebuilding BUDA engines?
specifically a 4.25 bore X 5 stroke four cylinder. The pistons are pretty
much trashed. They are 5.5 in tall. The rings were seized and the lans
damaged. These pistons had a bottom oil ring (1/4 inch from the bottom of
the skirt). Oil was splash fed from the top oil ring down the side of the
piston and out small holes next to the bottom ring.
We are oversizing the cylinders .040 to remove damage
It turns out there's a GM piston that has the same wrist pin to top
distance and are available .040 over.
1.Has anyone used these?
2.Has anyone had custom rings made while using original sized pistons?
3.How important is the bottom ring?
4. Is the bottom ring a guide or an oil ring

Thanks, Ken
