Another JD "B" saved from the scrap yard...Don't forget to take her down to Rockwall and show her off....

1941 John Deere B sn 109494 is back from the grave. I got an email from Duane
the end of last week notifying me he had completed the rebuild on my carb and
would have it in the mail shortly. With that heads-up I started getting all the bits and
pieces I'd been working reinstalled. The carb arrived Monday and Tuesday I got it
installed and got the B down off the blocks. She fired on the 4th spin of the flywheel
... I damm near wet my pants!!! What a thrill to see her come to life! Within
moments I was in the seat, had her rolling out of the barn and I was off on my first
tractor ride. Terry was absolutely right... I think the grin must have gone around my
face at least two times before it stopped. Oil pressures was steady on "M"
throughout the ride and water temp registered at 170º after she warmed up. Went
through all the gears with no bad noises noted... clutch was a bit rough at the start
of the ride, but smoothed out. The only problems noted were substantial oil leaks at
the PTO and both axles.

I can't thank the list members enough for all the help and advise that got me this far
on my B project. This is a great community to be part of and I eagerly look forward
to the day I too can make a contribution.
