[AT] OT - GM 8.2L Diesel

Phil, there are lots of those engines out there running every day in line
trucks, school buses, boom trucks, etc. If it's a goodwrench replacement
engine it should have any updates needed to fix known problems. I would
tend to be hesitant about a rebuild from an unknown source.

In fact if it is a Goodwrench it might have a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty
still in force. I don't know if the warranty applies in a heavy duty
application but most GM Goodwrench engines have that warranty if they are
used in an OEM application.

There are lots of school buses around here with that engine backed up by an
Allison Automatic. To be honest with you I don't know how they stay
together (and maybe they don't). Those ladies that drive them take off with
the pedal to the mat and hold it there until they make it a quarter of a
mile or so to the next bus stop and jam hard on the brakes. Then they
repeat the process.

Charlie
