I thought the list member might be interested in the results of an auction sale that I attended yesterday. The owner aquired a small collection of John Deere tractors with the indentation of restoring them. He only got around to restoring 1 and got started and a second when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The sale was to settle his estate.
Here are the tractors and the results of the auction:

J.D. 630 (#6316255) professionally restored. Only 4 hours on complete engine rebuild. Original 3pt., fenders, power steering and new rubber all around. Nice running tractor. Nice paint job but the tin was not perfect. Sold for $9250. (bidding war between 4 prospective buyers)

J.D. 630 (6313052) with a JD 45 loader. After market 3 pnt., Needed new rubber. Rough looking but was complete. Loader appeared to be sprung. Started easily and seemed to run rough. Good project tractor. Sold for $4100.

J.D. 630 (6316814) Original 3pnt., fenders with lights, needed rubber. Very rough but complete. Tin was straight with no major rust except for radiator grill which was badly bent. Sold for $5250.

J.D. G (#53334) Wide front end. No fenders. Lights. This tractor was rough looking but complete and seemed to run well. Sold for $5600.

J.D. AR (#254243) I would call this tractor average for an unrestored AR. Was complete and tin was straight. Needed rubber. Sold for $3000.

JD. D (1942 late) Has tag. A friend of mine was working on this tractor just before the owner death. The valves and guides were replaced. The pistons were measure and found to be with in tolerance as were the cylinder wall. The radiator core had been replaced. After market electric start. Tin was excellent including the grill which was perfect. Sold for $5500.

JD 420C Crawler (#420C0-132964) with grader blade. New paint (not perfect) and started and ran well. A friend of mine who has restored 2 of these crawlers showed me that the pins, rollers and sprocket wheels were badly worn. He stated to me it would be a major cost to repair. Sold for $3750.

JD 420C Crawler (#92169) W/pto. Hydraulics needed plumbing. Nice runner. Pins etc. not much better than the previous crawler. Sold for $4600.

MF TO-35 (#8156741) Rough condition but complete. Needed rubber. Seemed to start and run ok. Sold for $1250.

Lots of odd JD tractor parts and tools. Also a number of pull behind plows which were not in great condition but sold high. Everything seemed to go high. Sale was well attended. It was estimated that there were approx. 1000 to 1400 people in attendance.

And BTW, nothing followed me home.
