[AJD] 8 Volt Batteries

I bought a surplus 200 watt wirewound variable (with knob) resistor for
situations such as this. Mounted it in a burned out battery charger and
wired the input through the ammeter on the junk charger. Couple of studs for
the leads from the working charger as input to the junk unit and the
original leads and clips to hook to the battery. I use it mostly for mower
batteries and just adjust the resistor for about 2 amps charge when the
battery is low. Should work for the 8 volt unit.

Phil, Do it the simple way---just hook a 12v. headlight bulb in series
with the battery and charger, and set the charger to 12 volts. If your
charger is small, use any bulb that limits the charge current to less
than the rating of the charger. When the battery starts to produce gas
bubbles in the cells, it is charged. John D.
