Cecil,
It must be your battery. I have a Stylus 300 and the battery
stays up for at least two months sitting on the shelf.

most of the time. Depending on how much I need to use the flash I have to
change my rechargableable NiMH batteries maybe once a month. (this varies
with how much current your camera draws. Mine is pretty stingy). I keep 2
extra sets of batteries in the camera bag all the time. You are right about
NiMH leaking down but it has never been a problem for me.

don't last very long. I'm not saying your approach is wrong. I'm just
saying that different things work for different folks, situations and brands

My Olympus Stylus 400 came with a lithium ion battery and it
goes down on it's own if left over 10 days or so. It's the first battery
I ever had in a camera that did this. I wondered if it was the type
battery, or if the camera had some sort of minor amperage draw, or if
the battery was defective.

The battery in my Sony Mavica is also a lithium ion and stays
charged for months.

	Still wondering......
