Does your charger have an ammeter?  Check the charge rate in amps. 
Waiting for an overvoltage of 11 volts may be too much for either the 
charger, the battery or both.  If a 12 volt charger runs at a reasonable 
amperage you could use it.  If you have a variable voltage source 
(variac) you can plug the twelve volt charger into it and adjust for the 
amp rate you want.
