There has been alot of post on the safety valve that have been very
informative.I put a new konkle valve on my 80 case in 1994.The old valve
being rejected by the boiler inspecter. So some of the fellows put the
new one on along side the old one because they had heard of the problem
that the new ones, the seat would leak if they would pop off.I was not
one to have Two safety valves on my engine. In the 30 some years that I
have run other peoples engines at shows,I guess I can be accused of not
using the safety valve as a pressure regulater.I like to steam the
engine up before the show and pop the safety valve to make sure it is
working properly.Im not saying that it never has happened at a show
where the pop valve has lifted. But that only happens If your caught
with your pants down and the saw mill guy all at once decides to stop
after you just fired to keep up with the load.Or the seperater stops and
there you are.And just like Kenny Majeski says about his pop valve. The
one on my engine has been on since 1994 and no problem with it.
