Jeff,

Do you know who bought the 25 hp Gaar Scott and the 25 hp Gaar Scott
with the return flue boiler? I was there but didn't see who bought them. I
might want to borrow their steering worm gears to have a new one cast.

Dan

of the engine with Danny, so it really only cost him 28.5 to buy out Danny's
half. The engine will stay at Rollag. It is a beautiful engine indeed. I
ran it for a day with Clyde Hall and Bob Anderson. That was a nice break
from feeding the big 110 Case skid engine in the sawmill.

> The sale was a great reunion of steam folks. We counted 7 owners of 110
Cases in the crowd, as well as a 95 year old gentleman(Jim Rathert) who we
were thrilled to get to meet and hear stories from. He is the man who
pulled the 45 horse Double tandem compound Minnie from the river years ago,
and is now being restored by Dr. Knutson to show at Rollag.
> The boilers on most of the engines were good, with the exception of the
Huber and Sawyer and 80 Case(had an extra boiler with it). The gem of the
auction was the 25 horse Gaar Scott single side mount plowing engine that
brought $27,500. This engine only had 17 miles on it! Danny had bought it
in the 40's from a gentleman(the orig. owner) who had used it to thresh on
his own farm, and Danny roaded it the seventeen miles to his farm in
Comstock where he sawed with it alongside the 35 Dbl Nick. It never left his
farm. You want to talk about nice gearing!

found and bought the double rear mount Keck he's been advertising in IMA for
years for. It came from Elbert Johnson in MN. We have tentatively confirmed
the "Reunion of the Keck" for Pinckneyville, IL American Threshermen Show
next August. We are planning for 20-25 Keck Gonnerman engines as well as a
few rare 30-60 gas tractors.(Herb Beckemeyer has one!) Anyone on the list
with Keck Gonnerman interest or an engine, please contact me off list and I
will get you details. The Association is assisting with hauling as well,
which will help tremendously. This is the first big Keck Gonnerman event in
many years. Richard Keck, great grandson of John Keck, will be there for the
festivities. Should be an event to remember.
