I am leaving tomorrow (Tuesday) morning for a week's vacation. I bought 
some MMO this morning and will pour some in each cylinder tonight and 
leave it until I return on Saturday.

Do you mean the stud on the instrument panel where the ground strap is 
attached? I am not thrilled by that arrangement and ran a separate 
ground cable to the block, but I didn't have a way to make a good 
connection at the battery. I was reading only 4.5 volts at the block.

I did that. They are OK.

Original wires, but they are in surprisingly good shape. I checked for a 
spark at the plugs, and there is one, not the most brilliant, but a 
spark enough to keep the plugs dry and not fouled.

It appeared that I had a poor connection at the starter. I cleaned the 
ends, and it turns over better. But I am still not thrilled with the 
ground setup.

Thanks for the advice. I tried starting it about an hour ago, and at 
least I heard some dull "pops", so I think I am on the right track. I 
will let you know how I make out with soaking the cylinders with some MMO.
