[AT] Used Tires

Am I the only one obsessed with good used tractor tires? I have to ask
because it seems that where ever I go, I run into decent tires for a fracton of the
cost of new. Today for example I was working on a new subdivision and I ran
into the property owner (old farmer) anyway I asked my usual questions about
any old equipment he might want to get rid of, and after getting the tour and
inspecting a pair of Ford orchard tractors (more on that later) I noticed he
had two decent matched pairs of rear tires, one set 13.9 x26 and the other 12.4
X 28. He asked for an offer and picked up both sets for $50, rims and all.
He even loaded them in my pick-up for me. Now I know you don't run into that
everyday, but about the only thing I bought at auctions this summer was good
used tractor tires (most of the time I was the only one bidding). Am I missing
something? Or does everybody have to have new tires these days?

My other reason for posting is I seem to have found myself with several
decent sets of rear tires. Does anybody have a good suggestion on how to store
them without interfering with the valuable tractor storage space? I have them
lining the walls of (leaning up against) the pole barn now, but am running out
of wall space and am looking for a few suggestions.

Thanks,

Enjoy, Joe
