Spencer:

I forgot to include the data on the 101, 101A, B1 and B3 plows. I've added
it below:

LeRoy has given you good recommendations. Here is when the plows were made:

B1 - 1936 to 1952 - single bottom one way integral
B3 - 1935 to 1952 - single bottom two way integral
101 - 1936 to 1941 - single bottom two way tag along trip lift
101A - 1941 to ? - single bottom two way tag along trip lift
4B, 4C - 1935 to 1949
4D - 1938 to 1949
51 - 1934 to 1948
52 - 1934 to 1947
52 Rice - 1934 to 1945
44 - 1945 to 1957

The 44 plow came 6 years after the tractor and isn't as nice a looking plow,
IMHO. It is a truss beam (Bar Stock) Plow. The 4B, C, D, 51 and 52 plows are
Forged beams and have much more character and again IMHO are better plows. A
word of caution though, a 1939 B will have a tough time pulling a two bottom
plow in heavy soils. The 4's and the 52's are two bottom plows and I sure
wouldn't go over 2 x 14" and if you found a 2 x 12" it would be even better.
The 51 is a single bottom and right now I can't find my reference material
on it but it may have come in a 1 x 18" bottom. I would recommend any model
4, 51 or 52 over a model 44. I just like the forged beam plows better.

I have a 1940 Slant Dash B and have captured my Dad's original model 4C
plow, which I plowed with as a kid in Iowa. It is a 2 x 16". I'm not sure
the 1940 B is going to be able to handle it in our soils out here in WA.
Haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I'll take a stab at this since I was doing the same thing. You probably
want to look for a model 51 or 52. I have a model 52 on steel. Then there
are the 2 way ones like the 101 and the B3. Another one might be a 4B which
was something like a model 52.
