[Farmall] Lp tractor conversion to gasoline

Hi Bob,

I have seen this done once before but never did it myself but would not
hesitate to do this.

Basically it involves removal of the LP fuel mixer and throttle valve
assembly and replacement with a carburetor of proper size for the engine. It
is really just replacing the LP side of things with a gasoline system. It
may involve replacing the intake manifold in some cases if the manifold is
not multi-purpose (i.e. GAS/LP). There would be some change-over for linkage
and such but should be a no brainier as it is all there just needing to be
repositioned at the working end to fit the throttle. These linkage parts
should be no trouble to find as they are rarely asked for and often cheap to
buy used. One thing stands out is a possible internal change of the
compression ratio. I would verify the piston and bore sizes and head
assembly (use part numbers) are the same for gas and LP. I would think they
would be as there is normally no change in compression but you never know.
The BTU's of one fuel source to the other is slightly different and mostly
handled at the air/fuel mixture with gasoline type ratio being 14.3 air to 1
gasoline. I have heard of people using the old LP tank as a gas fuel tank
following modifications for filler cap neck and vented cap added. A small
issue for a radiator/fuel tank shop and should work fine.

Hope this helps,

Jim Rohr

Compression may be higher than gas engines -- suggest checking parts
catalog, etc. Could possibly end up with a pinger!
