Brad:

1.) I'm not telling! :-)

2.) Check some of the previous postings on the JD list. The Listing process
has been discussed at length.

Ok, since the last one from me took 24 hours to show up, lets try again.

1. Yeah Dean, why so late :>)

2. What is "Listed" corn? Method of planting?

Thanks,

Dean,

While the cultivating story is riviting, let's hear about the reasons for
being out late the night before ;)

Don:

As a teenage boy I cultivated a lot of corn but not listed corn. After the
noon meal when the weather was hot and humid, it was difficult to stay awake
on the slow moving tractor. Occasionally a few stalks of corn would get
plowed under. I would think that it would really be a challenge to stay on
top of the ridge at all times. Maybe those who drove listed corn cultivators
got home on time the night before! :-)

Take a look at the following:

http://www.tractorshed.com/contents/adpic2829.htm

This is what I remember a two row lister looked like. Planted the seed in
the bottom of the row. Tractors ran on the top of the row to cultivate.

Ok as a non-farmer lurker on this list, I had to see what a Lister was. Just
before Terry's pictures came in I found this site which is pretty good at
explaining to me what one is.
http://www.livinghistoryfarm.org/farminginthe30s/machines_07.html I can only
barely remember the implements that went on my grandmother's 36 F12, and if
I recall they seemed have seats right on the implements. I can only assume
that they were initially for horse drawn use.
