Hi Thomas,

Not to get into the Yanmar Vs. whatever arguement but those kinds of
problems are not uncommon with marinized versions of diesel engines.
Particularly for smaller boats. The engines are turned up to produce far
more power than the same engine would ever be forced to turn out in a
automotive or ag application. If you read the fine print on high
performance marine diesels you will find that some of are rated for as
little as 100 hrs of service. That is the extreme but you get the point.
Unfortunately there are lots of folks buying boats that have so much money
they don't care what things cost and even more unfortunately there are
marine dealers who had rather make money than to warn their customers that
they are about to get screwed.
