[AT] Harbor Freight truck cargo lift

I'm not getting any younger, nor is my back getting any stronger. I've
been to lots of auctions where I'll buy heavy things, then later have a
real hassle loading them. Any easier way to raise heavy things into my
pickup bed than using the "Armstrong" method is always welcome. So I broke
down and bought a useful toy today:

Harbor Freight currently has these lifts on sale. 500-pound rated
capacity, although to me this seems very conservative. Regularly $399, now
on sale at only $199. It is designed to work with most full and
compact-size pickup trucks and plugs into the socket of any 2" hitch
receiver.

Or go to:

And type in hitch lift in the search box.

Of course it's not a several-thousand dollar lift gate, but for its price
is substantially made of thick steel plate and heavy-wall tubing. Seems to
work fine for me, although I have vague reservations about the reliability
of the electric winch (I'm not too impressed by Asian-made electrics).

I hadn't even known about the existence of this unit until a friend alerted
me a few days ago. Then it's one of those things that suddenly hits you,
"Wow! What an ingenious idea!"

Thought I'd pass all this along to the list.
