[AT] Jap tractors

I own a JD 750 compact tractor circ 1981 or so. Good little tractor. Made
for JD by Yanmar. I think the whole series of the 650, 750, 850, 950 and
1050 were all made by Yanmar for JD. Seems to me I heard in the last few
years that the relationship between JD and Yanmar hit the skids.

My 750 has been a real workhorse for me. However, I would have liked it
better if it had stronger hydraulics and better brakes. YMMV!

I just bought the first repair parts for it recently after owning it for 6
years. Two lousy brake cover gaskets. Very simple paper gaskets $10.00 each.
If I ever need them again I'll make my own. Those prices are bordering on
criminal robbery. I don't know if that is typical of 750 parts or not.

Yanmar is the outfit that makes the smaller JD diesel tractors. They
have made them for quite a while. Most
Yanmar parts are the same stuff BUT you would need to figure out which
model JD the Yanmar you have
would equate to. That way you just order the parts using the JD part
numbers. Some of the Yanmar stuff
was sold under their own names and is being sold independently again.

Mitsubishi is the outfit that is making the midsize Cub Cadet tractors
for MTD. They also made some for Ford before
their contract expired. They also sell under their own name BUT not the
same models that Cub sells.
Parts are not real hard to find unless it is a casting.
