[AT] Case VAC question

I have a '46 Case VAC.  The hood has never fit right, and it has some dents
and dings in it.  I was looking at another one a while back and it had
the exact same ding in the hood.  The ding I am talking about is about
center in the hood, and a few inches back from the dash.  I thought that
the hood may have came down hard on one of the battery terminals.
Now I am begining to wonder if the ding is stock, or a common ding that
all of these get.
