Don:

Ok, I got the scanner to become cooperative again. I sent you scans of the
two pages from the 1942 Repair Catalog "R".

Don:

I finally found my 1942 "R" Repair Catalog. Right where I put it for
reference. In the back seat of the Pick Up! :-)

Reference pages 754 & 755. There is a 1939 and a 1940 version of the lift.
The 1939 lift has a H340A Chain guard for the A and a chain (24776A) of 52
links. For the B the chain guard is H341A with a 50 link chain.

The 1940 version had three different setups for the B's and A's.

For the B H364A chain guard and 52 link chain.

Then for the A's H363 chain guard and 53 link chain.

The catalog does give a listing of parts but it is not an exploded drawing.
A picture of each version is included.

If you can find some casting numbers on yours maybe we can identify which
unit you have.

My scanner is having a hissy fit this morning and am having trouble scanning
the pages. I'll do some work on it and see if I can get it off its PMS
syndrome.

There are others on the list who have this catalog as well who might be able
to get you a quicker scan.

I'll also need to do some research on what the document number is on these
units and see if JD still sells a reprint copy of it.

I've always wanted to get one of these lifts to put on my 1943 B with two
row cultivator. It has manual lift levers right now and a mechanical lift
would put me right back on the farm when I was a kid in NW IA.

Hope this helps.

They are for sure listed in Plow Catalog R, not sure about Catalog P
Greg
so far as the chain guard goes, I was never successful locating one myself.
