Remember the good old days of vapor lock?
Vapor lock cannot occur on a fuel system where the tank is above the carb.
Vapor lock is caused when the fuel pump over heats and the fuel vaporizes inside
the pump. If you have a tank that is above the carb then there is pressure
on the system at all times.
A lot of older cars had a heat shields between the fuel pump and the engine
to stop vapor lock.
I have heard of all kinds of ways to stop vapor lock but the best way to
cure it is to just cool off the pump a little water poured directly on it will
cause the vapor to condense.
