I agree with you George.  Marine engines that run with sea water coolant use
145 deg F. thermostats so that the minerals do not "cook" out of the cooling
water.  The continuous flow of sea water (fresh or salt) means a continuous
flow of contaminants to cook out and foul the cooling system.
